Mint Cottage is a wonderful historic weaver's cottage, crowded with original features. This beautiful house was built in the 16th century and is located in the tiny picturesque village of Lavenham. Lavenham was almost forgotten from the 1600's till recently and was featured in the Dimbleby's TV show as one of England's best preserved Medieval 'Wool' Villages and it is the Jewel in the crown of Suffolk's many pretty villages. Mint Cottage is tucked away in Shilling Street, a quiet 16th Century residential street just a 100 meters from the main square and where Jane Taylor lived and wrote the famous nursery rhyme “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. The Market Place which is yards away, also features the wonderful Guildhall which is owned by the National Trust and was the backdrop for the 1960's cult film 'Witchfinder General'. The Guildhall now houses a fascinating local history Museum which is a delight to explore.
