Book OnlineCheck price, availability & special offersFor a memorable holiday along the Norfolk Coast, bring your family or friends to The Patch, a homely self-catering chalet bungalow, well away from traffic and a few minutes walk from Snettisham Beach. It’s about nine miles from the historic town of Kings Lynn. Uniquely, The Patch is built around an ex-Great Eastern Railway carriage to provide comfortable and informal accommodation for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. It’s next to a small man made lake which is sometimes used for water sports training.
The Patch is an ideal base for walking enthusiasts, cyclists, bird watchers, and those who want to explore by car. The area is great for walking with plenty of scenic footpaths to discover. It’s a haven for birdwatchers as it’s on the very edge of the RSPB sanctuary of The Wash. Snettisham Beach Sailing Club offers day membership for water sports enthusiasts – check out their website. Sandringham House, Norfolk Lavender and a host of other attractions are close at hand. The cheerful holiday town of Hunstanton is about 15 minutes drive away, and has a leisure centre with swimming pool, theatre, Sea Life Centre, and a good range of shops. Closer at hand, there is a well-stocked general store open from Easter to October within five minutes walk, and an excellent fish and chip shop.
The Patch offers accommodation for seven in four bedrooms – two upstairs, two downstairs in the old railway carriage, and there is also a folding bed and space for a travel cot or two. There is a large living/dining room with a wood burner, and a good selection of books, maps and local guides, a cupboard with indoor games and a chest with outdoor playthings. There is a TV, video & DVD player with lots of films, and also a telephone landline as mobile reception is a bit dodgy round here! The large kitchen has a full-sized electric cooker and the usual standard items such as microwave and toaster. A door leads into the old carriage, which houses the shower room/toilet.
The Patch has a spacious private garden with BBQ, ideal for families with children, and there is parking for two or three cars.
Short breaks welcome in low season.
