Email Enquiryfor more informationA distinctive and charming 15th Century town house offering luxurious bed and breakfast in Sudbury, just five minutes from the centre of town and with beautiful views to the River Stour and water meadows. The main body of the house (over 500 years old) is connected to a 100 year old cottage where the breakfast room and guest bedoom are located. The main part of the house has exposed oak stud work and vaulted ceilings, which together with the inglenook fireplace in the drawing room, takes you back in time and helps to create a magical ambience.
Sudbury itself is a small, historic market town, set on the banks of the River Stour, just fifteen miles from Colchester. The town's history dates back to the Saxons and is mentioned in the Domesday Book as a market town where local people came to barter their goods. A little further afield can be found Flatfield Mill, the buildings of which feature in many of Constable's paintings. Other attractions include Long Melford Hall, Christchurch Mansion, Hedingham Castle and Bridge Cottage, the location of Constable's famous pastoral paintings.
