Email Enquiryfor more informationDebach Airfield was home to 493rd Heavy Bomber Group from 1944 to 1945. In total 157 missions were flown from Debach. After the United States forces left, the airfield was used first as a Prisoners of War camp and then for displaced persons before being abandoned in about 1948. Today, the site is a museum dedicated to the exploits of 'Helton's Hellcats', as well as a memorial to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
