Or are you an intermediate potter who wants to learn different techniques of creating various types of pottery? If so you will be interested in the Millhouse Pottery Videos! Millhouse Pottery in Norfolk is a long established pottery studio founded and run by master potter Alan Frewin, it is open for touring. Alan began as a potter in 1965 and has an abundance of experience. The majority of his work is slipware pottery yet he does use other pottery techniques. He also uses blue and white tin glaze, majolica and underglaze potter decoration.
With the Millhouse Pottery Videos you can watch Alan create a number of pieces. The films are not just demonstrations but show actual pieces of work in progress by Alan. These informative films are nicely paced and offer thorough explanations, ideal for those who would simply enjoy learning about pottery and those who are seriously interested in making pottery themselves. There are six DVDs in the series. Volume 1 covers the basics of English Slipware Pottery, Volume 2 shows the process of making a large garden pot with bas relief dragon, Volume 3 shows the making of a teapot and oval dish, Volume 4 goes more in depth to the mixing of the clay and firing of the kiln, Volume 5 shows the making of a large plate in the style of 17th century potter Thomas Toft, and Volume 6 shows how to throw pots using the potter’s wheel.
