Nene Valley Railway

Great fun days out near Peterborough are on the heritage Nene Valley Railway, a 7 1/2 mile standard gauge line running from Wansford to Peterborough via Yarwell, Ferry Meadows, Orton Mere and Peterborough. The Nene Valley heritage railway line is the only UK heritage railway which has stock running alongside traditional British trains!

Various themed Nene Valley Railway events take place through the year including family fun days, diesel and steam galas, 1940s weekends, Santa and Thomas specials and the popular off-train evening of blues music at Wansford.

An extensive collection of heritage carriages and locomotives can be found at Wansford. Other attractions en-route along the Nene Valley line include Ferry Meadows Country Park and the pretty villages of Nassington and Yarwell near Yarwell station stop. The Wansford site is open all year round and during the summer months vintage bus tours run direct from Wansford Station.

East of England Show & Showground Events

The East of England Showground is located just southwest of Peterborough centre just off the A1 motorway. The Showground hosts the annual East of England Show in June, an incredibly popular event celebrating British Farming and Rural Life. Show jumping features in the East of England Show alongside displays of vintage agricultural machinery, classic cars, live demonstrations in the food hall and kids favourite event the Great British Pasty Challenge where children get to cook their own pasty. Live music and dance also takes place during the East of England Show.
