Pretty Sheringham beach framed by the sea cliffs is a Blue Flag beach. The North Norfolk Railway, with main station Sheringham, is one of Norfolk's most popular attractions. Famously nicknamed The Poppy Line, which derives from Victorian journalist Clement Scott's trip to this area of North Norfolk about which he extolled the virtues of his 'Poppy-land'. The North Norfolk Railway was built by William Marriott in 1887 and he ran it up until 1924. The William Marrriott Museum can be found adjacent to Holt Station. Beautiful Sheringham Station contains heritage signal boxes, a wonderful railway buffet with a display of old photographs of the station, a railway shop and Sheringham Tourist Information Centre. Ample parking is adjacent to the station. Most visitors to the North Norfolk Railway start their journey here at Sheringham Station for daytrips to Holt village specialist shops and tearooms and the priory ruins at pretty fishing village Weybourne. Weybourne is also home to The Muckleburgh Collection Military Museum situated on the site of a former World War II military camp.

Attractions in Sheringham alongside the popular North Norfolk Railway include the famous Sheringham Park (National Trust) designed by acclaimed landscape designer Humphry Repton (1752-1818). Sheringham Park was one of Repton's own favourites and contains an exquisite display of azaleas and rhododendrons in season. Highlights include the wild garden designed by Repton and the climb up the gazebo tower for spectacular views across Sheringham Park. Find Sheringham Park 2 miles west of Sheringham with the entrance signposted at the junction of the A148 and B1157. The park is also clearly signposted from Sheringham centre.
Once the railway arrived in Sheringham in 1887 the town shifted from quiet fishing village to seaside resort mecca on the North Norfolk Coast. Sheringham has a rich history as a popular seaside resort, as evidenced by the heritage railway posters and postcards of Sheringham available to buy in the Railway Shop at Sheringham Station. Overlooking Sheringham seafront is The Mo, Sheringham Museum with its panoramic viewing tower. Exhibits inside explore the history of lifeboats and fishing in the area as well as Sheringham's popularity as a Victorian seaside resort. An original Victorian bathing hut forms part of the museums' displays.

Blue Flag Sheringham beach bay is beautifully framed by the Sheringham cliffs. The beach is a gentle pebble beach surrounded by a wide choice of great Sheringham cafes, traditional pubs and a selection of arcades. Sheringham's main high street which pushes down from Sheringham Station towards the beach is lined with charming independent shops, traditional real ale pubs, alfresco cafes and tearooms, shellfish bars and gift shops. A golf course, little theatre and a Splash leisure complex can also be found in Sheringham.
