Wroxham is affectionately known as the 'Capital of the Norfolk Broads', a title it has held since the late 1920s. Wroxham is situated alongside one of the Broads' most popular waterways, the beautiful River Bure. Bure Valley Railway

Hoveton Hall Gardens

Hoveton Hall Gardens near Wroxham is another superb attraction in the Wroxham area, situated on the edge of the Norfolk Broads and covering 15 acres. The gardens here at Hoveton Hall are spectacular through the seasons with Rhododendrons and Azaleas prevalent through May and June and a host of summer flowering gems in the Spider Garden during the summer months. The Hall itself is attributed to the great British landscape gardener Humphrey Repton (1752-1818) who was born in Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk. Examples of Repton's designs feature elsewhere in Norfolk at Sheringham Park and the Hall at Hoveton (not open to the public) is similar in design to Sheringham Hall.

Gardeners will find much to inspire here with highlights in the Gardens at Hoveton Hall including the exquisite herbaceous border colours in the Spider Garden, the circular designed Clematis Walk, the Magnolia Garden with lake dug in the 18th century and the 1920s Water Gardens with Kidney Lake featuring a central island populated by many wildfowl such as Grey Heron. Guided tours of Hoveton Hall Gardens are available and children will love the on-site Childrens Nature Trail which weaves around the Gardens highlighting key features in a fun learning way with nature trail card to stamp as you find key sites.

Events at Hoveton Hall Gardens range from Easter Treasure Hunts to Craft Fairs and summer Strawberry Fayre. Recent events introduced include the Victorian Extravaganza Family Fun Day. Afternoon tea and light lunches are available at the onsite pretty tearoom and you can purchase plants propagated from the actual plants at Hoveton Hall Gardens in the plant sales area. Facilities for wedding receptions in the Hoveton Hall Gardens are also available.

Hoveton Hall Gardens is clearly signposted from Wroxham centre and is situated just north of Wroxham on the edge of the Norfolk Broads off the A1151.

Bewilderwood Treehouse Adventure Park
