Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park

Award winning family fun theme park Pleasurewood Hills is located just on the northern outskirts of Lowestoft 10 minutes south of Great Yarmouth. Pleasurewood Hills theme park spread across a 50 acre park is East Anglia's premier theme park and winner of numerous awards. Fantastic thrill rides at Pleasurewood Hills include adrenalin pumping roller coasters like Thunder Struck and Enigma. White-water family rides and themed adventure play areas and rides for younger children are also at Pleasurewood Hills alongside the cutting edge thrill rides.

The tallest and fastest roller coaster in East Anglia - Wipeout is here at Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park which is easily accessible to visitors based in both Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. The theme park also boasts the great alpine chairlift and two railways which weave around the site. Lowestoft Blue Flag Beaches & Seaside Attractions

Major East Anglia seaside resort Lowestoft, the British coast's most easterly point, contains some of the East of England's finest Blue Flag beaches. Famous for its golden sands, Lowestoft beaches to the North and South of Claremont Pier hold the prestigious ENCAMS Blue Flag Award. Lifeguard patrolled during summer, Lowestoft beaches are superb family friendly gentle beaches with opportunities for a range of water sports and family activities available.

Lowestoft seafront with its two piers contains great attractions for children like the recently added Princess Royal Fountains near East Point Pavilion which has interactive water jets. Lowestoft's two piers are South Pier near Lowestoft heritage quay, a premier family entertainment pier with ten pin bowling, fish & chip restaurants, family pub and amusements. Claremont Pier contains a family roller skating rink.

Family cafes, pubs, award winning tearooms, fresh seafood stalls and family restaurants in Lowestoft can be found lining the Lowestoft seafront promenade. The long Lowestoft beach promenade also contains beautiful seafront gardens, colourful beach huts and ample choice of crazy golf, putting greens plus a small boating lake. Find Lowestoft Tourist Information Centre located within the East Point Pavilion building adjacent to the fountains. Look out for the Mincarlo, a Lowestoft sidewinder often moored in Lowestoft Yacht Harbour.

The resorts cultural hub theatre, the Marina Theatre offers a great mix of live entertainment shows and cinema. Almost lost in the mid 1980s, the historic Marina Theatre in Lowestoft is one of Britain's great heritage seaside theatres which has a history of entertainment in Lowestoft stretching back 100 years. Around Lowestoft alongside theme park favourite Pleasurewood Hills sit great wildlife parks like Africa Alive! The many seaside attractions in Great Yarmouth are also within easy reach of Lowestoft.

Things to Do at Oulton Broad

From Lowestoft Heritage Quay near South Pier the sea cuts inland to spectacular Oulton Broad which is home to a number of attractions including Lowestoft Haven Marina en-route and at Oulton Broad Lowestoft Museum in Broad House. The museum is home to a fine collection of 18th century Lowestoft Porcelain and local fossil and archaeological finds from the Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods. Broad House is a Grade II listed building dating from 1685.

Oulton Broad is a bustling place in Lowestoft and gateway to both the sea and River Waveney to the Southern Broads beyond. Adjacent to Oulton Broad is a spectacular park which often plays host to family events and funfairs. Sailing, fishing, windsurfing and rowing are all available at Oulton Broad. Situated on the southern tip of Oulton Broad is a visitor centre for the Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve which is spread across around 100 acres and features a mixed landscape of fen, peat pools and grazing marsh.

Ample parking sits adjacent to Oulton Broad which is clearly signposted off the A12 at Lowestoft. The Broad is also surrounded by a great choice of family pubs and cafes all with spectacular views of the many boats moored at this popular Southern Broad at Lowestoft.

Lowestoft & East Suffolk Maritime Museum

A visit to Lowestoft Maritime Museum situated just to the north of the harbour along Whapload Road reveals much about Lowestoft's rich maritime and fishing heritage. Towards the maritime museum at North Beach visitors can also visit Ness Point, England's most easterly point with the Lowestoft wind turbine situated near to Ness Point.

Discover the history of Lowestoft's fish market and fishing industry here at the superb Lowestoft & East Suffolk Maritime Museum which is packed with fascinating photography and exhibits detailing themes in Lowestoft's fishing heritage like visiting Scots women working in the local herring industry. The history of RNLI lifeboats at Lowestoft is also explored including the stories of famous lifeboat men in Lowestoft's past. Also given due attention via displays is Lowestoft's shipbuilding heritage.

From the Lowestoft Maritime Museum visitors can take the short walk across the adjacent Sparrows Nest Park to view Lowestoft Lighthouse, the history of which is explored in-depth in the maritime museum. A delghtful cafe with summer alfresco seating can be found in Sparrows Nest Park. The Lowestoft Maritime Museum, Britain's most easterly museum, is open to visitors daily from April to October, 10am to 5pm.
